After 22 years of private ownership, Baker Engineering has entered into a new corporate chapter.  The company was recently acquired by Waséyabek Development Company, LLC. (WDC).  Rest assured, the change in ownership will not bring significant change to the way we do business. The company name will not change, the faces will not change, and the type of business we conduct will not change.

This exciting strategic acquisition is expected to expand opportunities for both Baker Engineering and WDC.  WDC will contribute new resources, experience and energy to our growing business. In addition to the recent AS 9100D and IS) 9001:2015 certifications, the company now qualifies as a minority owned business.

WDC is a tribally-owned holding company that manages the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Patawatomi’s non-gaming economic development activities. The company is dedicated to developing a stable, diversified economy for members of the Band and to provide revenue and diverse employment opportunities for Tribal Members. Their acquisition strategy includes businesses operating in both the commercial and federal sectors.  More importantly, WDC’s acquisition team includes a long-time customer of Baker Engineering, someone we have come to know and trust over the past 20 years.

Baker Engineering LLC. will continue to serve our corporate and individual customers with the same commitment to high tech, high quality, products and services, and to staying on the leading edge of manufacturing technologies.  Please join us in welcoming WDC to the team.

Development Engine Demo Success

BEI’s proprietary 24 cu.in. Opposed-Piston Turbo Diesel Engine/APU has successfully demonstrated cold start, low idle, high idle and incremental loads nearing the target power output.  See it run at http://youtu.be/WJvEYzIgGYI. With a target of 20kW output, this technology has widespread potential due to its small size, flexible footprint, power-to-weight ratio, low part count, and fuel efficiency.  The single cylinder engine also provides a low compression ratio with low heat rejection, variable boost, high speed, good cold starting and multi-fuel capabilities.

Engine Technologies Displayed at AUVSI

Two engines currently under development at BEI were featured at the AUVSI Unmanned Systems show in Las Vegas in August.  The revolutionary Nutating Disk Engine was displayed in two configurations, the 100+ Hp version as well as the 7 Hp engine. Rotary engine advancements underway at BEI were also featured.  These technologies were part of the Air Force Research Laboratory exhibit for the third consecutive year. For additional information, click the Technologies tab at the top of the page.

What Sets Us Apart

For years, BEI has been an R & D resource for the U.S. Army and the Air Force, designing, building and testing new technologies. Now, we take that level of precision, expertise and sophisticated manufacturing capabilities and apply it to other high tech industries.
